Robo Sightings on September 11

Good Afternoon,

In today’s scan for Wowwee coverage, please note the following coverage of Alive Elvis, Roboquad, Flytech Dragonfly, and Alive Chimp...

  • Alive Elvis: The Chattanooga Times (TN) published a positive review of Alive Elvis, mentioning a full host of the product features.
  • Roboquad: The Lakeland Ledger (FL) picked up the Warren Buckleitner’s NYT review of Roboquad. The Charlotte Observer also picked up the same review, which stated that the product "manages to be both cute and creepy at the same time." The blog "Young Geeks" ran a post on Roboquad by blogger Thomas Wiltshire. Blogger Judie Lipsett of GearDiary.com posted correspondence with Robert Oschler - a member of RoboCommunity, roschler. Robert wrote Judie requesting that she blog about his hack involving Skype, a Wowwee Roboquad and internet connection, which lets you call up your robot from anywhere in the world, control it remotely and - thanks to a head-mounted video camera - stream live media back to you.
  • Flytech Dragonfly: The blogger "Electric Disk" of elecrticdisk.com reviews the Flytech Dragonfly on his website and posted a video of him flying the product. He writes, "Here is a fun toy to use with your kids. You can fly it indoors with no problem. If you use it outside, be careful because it will fly away. Ours got stuck in a tree!"
  • Alive Chimp: "Vaughn" of the Trossen Robotics Community blogs state that he is in search of an "animatronic head to announce Home Automation messages," and is looking to Alive Chimp as a possibility.
