vergot one thing, gerber is this corect.
On the reverse side of the chip you have it should have (TX) (RX) (VCC or ground)these are the connections you need to use. If you follow the notes as per the thread
This Thread also may help you as well
This module is called "USB to TTL". Usually TTL means 5V. RSMedia com port is 3.3 volts.
Some modules can do 3.3 and 5V. Can yours?
If Yes then change it to 3.3 volts
If No then this one may not work with RSMedia :-(
mine is 3.3 v

Great! It will work OK with RSMedia then.
your right 3.3 v
i check it again
Below is a picture of the chip you have ordered from both side.
You wont need to use the 3.3v pin or 5v pin as the power comes from the USB on the computer. the only 3 pins you will be using are the RX TX and GND which are connected to the RS media serial hack below are the pin connects
(The chip) GND ------>6 pin (Robot serial hack)
(The chip) TX ------>2 pin (Robot serial hack)(The chip) RX ------>3 pin (Robot serial hack)
below is a picture to show you this from Jamies post on the following threadhttp://www.robocommunity.com/forum/thread/17944/-Solved-HELP-RS-Media-stuck-a...
Hope this helps you
