Hi all,

I know its pretty annoying to see the blue lights from Rovio. Thus, I had found a way to disable it.

1) open up Rovio through unscrewing all the screws.

2) Pull up the connector that supplies the current to those blue lights.

3) Screw back Rovio.

Sounds simple? If u need the blue lights, you have to open it up again and plug the connector back.  Its not really a good solution but at least it works and your Rovio will still function as per normal.

I had attached some photos to illustrate it. Please take a look.

1) Rovio with blue lights.

2) Open up Rovio and identify the PCB board which sits on the right of Rovio.

3) Pull out the blue lights' "molex" connector and stick it to the internal walls of Rovio thu some scotch tape.

4) Rovio with all blue lights switched off. Note: the LED light on the switch will comes out after a few seconds when u turn it on.

Thanks for documenting that, muss! Your batteries will last longer now too, I suspect.

I put a switch on mine, that way I can turn it off and on when ever i want.

I used a slide switch from RadioShack, hot glue to hold the switch in place, wire, solder.

1. Open Rovio, located a place for your switch.

2.  Drill hole in to side of Rovio big enough for you slide switch to operate.

3. solder wire on to switch with enough length to reach LED circuit boad.

4. hot glue swith in to rovio, make sure not to get glue in the slider portion of switch.

5.Remove black wire on LED circuit board.

6. solder black wire from LED circuit board to one wire from new switch.

7. solder other wire from switch to where you removed black wire from LED circuit board.

Turn Rovio on and test.  Have fun.

@cowboyctx, I scaled your images down to 600 pixels wide to fit the forum width better, but could you post some cropped detail images from the first one? The text is now somewhat hard to read...

The top one says " Black wire form LED circuit board, solder to wire from switch" and the other one says "other wire from switch solder to where you removed black wire from LED circuit board."  something like that....

Is there enough room inside Rovio under the Camera area to mount a Magnetic Reed switch, (that is normaly closed). Then you could mount a small magnet under the Camera neck. So when you lower the Camera Neck the Lights will go off...

Just a thought.

Yes there is sufficient room, and it sounds like an interesting mod.
